Belarus to sell dried baby food to Zimbabwe

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Belarus will ship dried baby food to Zimbabwe, the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Zimbabwe to Belarus Ignatius Graham Mudzimba. The parties discussed practical steps for launching deliveries of Belarusian baby food to the Zimbabwean market as well as other promising avenues of cooperation.

Attention was paid to the realization of the potential for exporting tinned meat for babies that complies with the appropriate international safety standards. The Belarusian side confirmed it is ready to deliver as much as Zimbabwe needs, including participation in government programs on feeding preschool age children and school age children. Close attention was paid to raising the awareness about the quality and safety of Belarusian baby foods among Zimbabwe’s population.

The first practical result has already been achieved: the Belarusian company OAO Bellakt has signed a contract with a Zimbabwean company for the delivery of the first batch of dried baby food. It will be shipped to African consumers as early as in November 2025.

In addition to baby food the parties discussed the potential for cooperation in mechanizing agriculture. At the level of the diplomatic mission the Zimbabwean side expressed interest in studying these proposals and undertook to find potential partners.

“We see Zimbabwe as a trade partner, as a country, with which we can build long-term, mutually beneficial relations on the basis of trust and real needs. Our task is to bolster food security and create a stable base for future cooperation,” Yuri Gorlov noted.

The meeting ended in an agreement to continue the dialogue and make concrete decisions.
