
MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – Belarus will issue Br80 banknote to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, BelTA learned from National Bank of Belarus.
On 18 March, the Board of the National Bank adopted Resolution No. 68 to issue a commemorative banknote and commemorative coins, which are legal tenders of the Republic of Belarus.
The issue will be launched on 31 March. The National Bank notes that the banknote “80th Year of the Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War” will be denominated at Br80 and will be issued in a limited edition of 80,000 pieces. The National Bank will also release the commemorative coins “The 80th Year of the Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War”: silver coins with the nominal value of Br20 (2,500 pieces), copper-nickel coins with the nominal value of Br1 (5,000 pieces).
The Br80 bill depicts the Courage monument of the Brest Fortress Hero memorial complex. The reverse side features an image of a mother's hand holding a child's hand against the background of national ornament, an image of the Minsk Gate architectural complex and an apple flower. The banknote is bright pink in color.
