DUSHANBE, 4 June (BelTA) - Joint production initiatives between Belarus and Tajikistan serve as a pillar to promote the interests of both nations, Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin during a meeting with Tajikistan’s Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda on 4 June, BelTA has learned.
"I am sincerely grateful for the warm welcome in Tajikistan. The foundation of our cooperation is built on the strong relations between our leaders. When the Belarusian president speaks about Tajikistan’s leader, there is noticeable warmth and respect in his words. We are very satisfied with our cooperation. The establishment of the Tajikistan Trading House in Minsk will give a new impetus to our partnership. All decisions have been made, and we are now ready to start implementing the project. I believe this will be another step toward deepening mutual understanding and enhancing our trade and economic relations," Aleksandr Turchin said.

The Belarusian prime minister emphasized that joint production initiatives serve as a key driver for promoting the economic interests of both countries. "Today, we will visit an enterprise engaged in equipment assembly in Tajikistan [the Agrotekhservis enterprise]. Establishing joint enterprises both in Tajikistan and Belarus is an important direction we need to develop. It addresses our common goals," he stated.
According to Aleksandr Turchin, trade and economic relations between Belarus and Tajikistan are gaining momentum. "Last year, we achieved good results: the bilateral trade exceeded $168 million, placing Belarus among Tajikistan’s top ten foreign trading partners," he said.

In turn, Kokhir Rasulzoda emphasized that, thanks to political will, Belarus-Tajikistan bilateral cooperation has long advanced to the level of strategic partnership. "Belarus-Tajikistan relations are currently picking up steam. This high level of ties is facilitated by the sincere, friendly, and brotherly relationship between the presidents of our countries. In January-April of this year, the heads of state held two phone conversations, during which they discussed pressing issues of bilateral interaction and outlined further steps toward expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. Interparliamentary cooperation is also actively developing. Belarus and Tajikistan hold similar views on many international issues and engage extensively within global and regional organizations," he stated.
As it was previously reported, Aleksandr Turchin arrived in Tajikistan on a working visit to attend a meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council.
