MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - In January-April 2025, Serbian companies conducted 12 transactions on the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), totaling $3.1 million, which was ten times more year-on-year, the BUCE press service told BelTA.
The structure of exchange trade between Belarus and Serbia has expanded with new product categories. In January-April 2024, Belarus mainly supplied butter to Serbia. This year, Serbian traders have actively purchased skimmed and whole milk powder from Belarus and sold herbicides and sugar beet seeds.
This was discussed at the business forum "Logistics, trade, investments: Belarus as a key gateway to the EAEU market", held in Novi Sad, Serbia as part of the Novi Sad international agricultural fair.
In order to further develop Belarusian-Serbian exchange trade, efforts will focus on attracting small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises to BUCE. This will expand the pool of buyers for Belarusian products and increase sales volumes in Serbia, including sugar and rapeseed oil.
Strengthening cooperation with Serbian businesses will also create new procurement opportunities for Belarusian traders, allowing them to purchase necessary local products directly, such as seeds, plant protection products, and food raw materials.
An agreement to assist Serbian companies with accreditation on BUCE has been reached with the Embassy of Belarus in Serbia and the Honorary Consulate of Belarus in Novi Sad.
As of 21 May 2025, BUCE accredited eight Serbian companies.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
