MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Agricultural products and industrial goods could become key drivers of growth in exchange trade between Belarus and Kirov Oblast of Russia, Deputy Head of Foreign Economic Relations at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) German Puzyrny said during a meeting with a business delegation from the Russian region, BelTA learned from the BUCE press service.

According to him, organizing exports and imports of these product groups through BUCE will help bring cooperation between Belarus and Kirov Oblast to a brand new level. “Experience of cooperation with Russian regions, including the Volga Federal District to which Kirov Oblast belongs, shows that the best results come from trading goods with high liquidity. For example, in the agro‑industrial sector, this includes the full range of dairy products, meat and meat semi‑finished products, feed additives, and oilseed crop seeds; and in the industrial sector – motor vehicles, special‑purpose machinery, electrical equipment, tools, spare parts, and components. In all these areas, enterprises of Belarus and Kirov Oblast have much to offer each other,” German Puzyrny noted.

During negotiations with the delegation from Kirov Oblast, BUCE representatives drew attention to the positive trend in the value of exchange transactions concluded by companies from the region. In January-July 2025, exchange trade between Belarus and Kirov Oblast increased several-fold year-on-year, driven mainly by supplies of Belarusian-made lumber. At the same time, products from Kirov Oblast enterprises have not been sold through BUCE this year, making the development of imports from Kirov Oblast one of the top priorities.

“By participating in exchange trading, manufacturers from Kirov Oblast will gain access to tens of thousands of current purchase requests posted by Belarusian enterprises. These include both large state‑owned concerns and small private companies, so any quantity of goods can be sold, regardless of volume,” German Puzyrny emphasized.

In order to attract small and medium‑sized businesses from Kirov Oblast to the Belarusian exchange platform more effectively, plans are in place to step up cooperation with the regional export support center, including joint informational and training events on exchange trading. In addition, discussions are underway on accrediting an exchange broker with BUCE to serve as a link between the exchange and Kirov Oblast entrepreneurs.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
