MINSK, 27 January (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in expanding supplies of dairy products to Indonesia, Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Deputy Minister Ivan Smilgin said during a meeting with a delegation from the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services of Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry’s press service.
The visit is part of an official inspection to assess the compliance of Belarusian dairy-processing enterprises with Indonesian legislation on standards and food safety.
“Such inspections are an integral part of international trade practice. Before allowing imports of animal-origin products, importing countries must be assured of the reliability of the veterinary and sanitary control system of the exporting side. The inspection includes checking the entire chain from farm to finished product: animal housing conditions, laboratory monitoring, compliance with technological regulations, documentation, and certification mechanisms. Only after a positive conclusion by inspectors can official exports begin,” the press service explained.
At the meeting, key aspects of Belarus’ dairy safety system were discussed: the organizational structure of the veterinary service and state control bodies, the regulatory framework in veterinary and food safety, the system of laboratory monitoring of animal-origin products, programs for disease prevention and control, and the procedure for issuing export certificates.
In the coming days, Indonesian specialists will visit 13 dairy-processing enterprises and adjacent raw material zones.
“We are sincerely interested in developing partnership with our friends from Indonesia. We already have four enterprises accredited for dairy exports, but we want more. That is why we invited leading experts from your country to conduct an independent, comprehensive inspection. The entire route has been carefully planned: you will see the full production cycle. As for quality, we are confident. Belarus exports dairy products to more than 100 countries worldwide, and this is the best proof that our control system is reliable, transparent, and meets the strictest international standards,” Ivan Smilgin noted.
At all stages of the inspection, the Indonesian commission will be accompanied by specialists from the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food. The delegation confirmed readiness for constructive dialogue and expressed its intention to conduct the inspection as objectively and thoroughly as possible. The final decision will be made after analyzing the inspection materials and reviewed at the interagency level.
