Belarus, Russia’s Tomsk Oblast discuss areas of cooperation

MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) - The fifth meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Russia’s Tomsk Oblast chaired by Belarusian Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Sergei Maslyak and Governor of Tomsk Oblast Vladimir Mazur took place in Tomsk, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

Among the most promising areas of cooperation are the purchase of machinery from leading Belarusian enterprises, such as MAZ, MTZ, Amkodor, Minsk Motor Plant, Belkommunmash, Gomselmash, and also the opening of a Belarusian multi-brand service center in Tomsk Oblast. The parties are also interested in joint scientific research in low-tonnage chemistry, participation of Belarusian and Russian specialists in retraining and advanced training programs, including internships at universities and enterprises.

The parties discussed the preparation of projects and programs of the Union State in industrial microelectronics, exchanged experience in the development of waste management schemes, sorting, recycling of secondary material resources, construction of waste processing plants. In addition, a presentation was offered to demonstrate the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange as an effective trading tool.

The event was attended by businessmen, scientists and intellectuals, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Commodity Exchange. The participants of the meeting reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached at the previous meeting, as well as the visits of the delegations of the Russian region to Belarus in December 2023 and June 2024.

Sergei Maslyak and Vladimir Mazur praised the high level of interaction and emphasized the need to move to a new level of cooperation, including through the creation of industrial cooperation projects.
