MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) - Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin and Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov discussed issues of industrial cooperation during a meeting in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
“The minister and I have already briefly discussed our conceptual approaches to further interaction. Lately, the cooperation between our countries, if not perfect, is very close to it. The relationship that has developed between the governments of Belarus and Russia is of a very high level; these are truly trusting relations. We have managed to resolve many issues recently. Today, my colleagues and I will discuss the state of our cooperation in the industrial sector. There are significant successes, and there are problems, but they are entirely solvable,” Aleksandr Turchin said.
Anton Alikhanov praised the high level of interaction with Belarus. New plans for industrial cooperation are being developed. “I believe we have many joint projects ahead of us, not only in developing existing enterprises but also in creating completely new cooperative projects. I am confident that undoubted success awaits us,” he emphasized.
The meeting addressed cooperation in a number of areas, including microelectronics, light industry, and automotive manufacturing. “We would like Russian automotive electronics to be in greater demand, including at the production facilities of the BelGee plant. By the way, this plant is one of the largest players on the Russian market. A separate topic concerned the Amkodor-Onego project; high-quality timber-harvesting equipment is very important for us. We have achieved significant success in agricultural machinery manufacturing, and we have joint cooperative projects there, as well as in elevator manufacturing,” the minister added.
Joint projects in third countries, including Uzbekistan and African states, were also discussed.
“We have agreed with Andrei Yevgenyevich Kuznetsov [Belarus' Industry Minister] to hold a joint board meeting in Moscow this year with your support. We will schedule it for December. Specifically, not only at the level of ministers and deputy ministers but also at the level of heads of departments and offices, we will establish close communications so that we can find solutions at the expert level and, if necessary, subsequently bring them for discussion to higher leadership,” the Russian minister said. The Bellegprom representatives are expected to attend the board meeting.
Large-scale events were recently held in Minsk, including meetings of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the CIS Heads of Government Council, where various aspects of interaction, including in industry and trade, were substantively reviewed. “I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on the successful hosting of the international exhibition INNOPROM. Belarus and to thank our colleagues and friends, primarily the Industry Ministry and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, for their comprehensive cooperation in organizing this event. It turned out to be large-scale; over 14,000 people visited the exhibition in three days. More than 500 companies from different countries showcased their products,” Anton Alikhanov said.
