MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) - Belarus' quota in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been increased. The decision is stipulated by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of Belarus and the National Bank No.262/15 of 14 May 2025, which was officially published on the National Internet Portal on 16 May, BelTA has learned.
The Government and the National Bank have agreed to increase the quota of the Republic of Belarus in the International Monetary Fund to 1.022,3 billion Special Drawing Rights (SDR) in accordance with the sixteenth general review of quotas, approved by the Board of Governors of the Fund on 15 December 2023. Among other things, the National Bank allocates 25% of the quota increase amount – SDR 85.2 million - to increase the quota of the Republic of Belarus in the International Monetary Fund, while the Finance Ministry issues a promissory note in Belarusian rubles in the amount of 75% of the quota increase amount (equivalent to SDR 255.6 million). The National Bank manages and accounts for the asset in the form of position in the reserve tranche of the Republic of Belarus in the International Monetary Fund.
The document also stipulates that the National Bank and the Finance Ministry are to ensure the implementation of necessary measures related to the increase in the quota.
The resolution comes into force after its official publication.
