MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – A business forum of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization took place in Beijing. It is a key discussion platform for business circles of the participating states. The Belarusian delegation was led by Director of the National Center for Marketing, chairman of the national part of the SCO Business Council Mikalai Barysevich, representatives of the National Center for Marketing told BelTA.

In his report Mikalai Barysevich talked about the significance of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and Belarus’ strategic approach: “Belarus’ accession to the SCO is a deliberate choice in favor of equal, trusting, and mutually beneficial cooperation. Belarus has joined the SCO in earnest and for the long term. We are ready not only to take advantage of opportunities, but also to assume obligations,” he remarked.

The director of the center also touched upon the subject of transport and logistics. “We propose developing a common transport space within the SCO, multimodal transportation, and the digitization of logistics: starting with navigation seals and ending with simplified customs procedures,” Mikalai Barysevich emphasized.

Apart from that, the director noted that Belarus produces world-class equipment and is ready for joint projects: from the creation of enterprises to the exchange of technologies. He added that the Belarusian side sees potential in the formation of a common SCO digital space, the development of electronic commerce and AI technologies, and is on the whole ready for systemic work within the SCO platform.

Mikalai Barysevich also took part in a forum on trade and economic cooperation with the regions of Belarus and in the first session of the working group on cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the city of Qingdao, which are being held on the sidelines of the conference on regional trade and economic cooperation between China and the SCO countries.

In his speech he emphasized that the National Center for Marketing as the national part of the SCO Business Council can act as a key link in promoting business contacts between Belarusian and Chinese private sectors. During the meeting the NCM presented Belarus’ economic potential, focusing on the main branches of the economy and the most promising areas for increasing trade between Belarus and Qingdao taking into account the untapped export potential. Particular attention was paid to the BelarusChina.by online platform as a tool for finding partners and promoting Belarusian companies on the Chinese market. Prospects were highlighted for cooperation with the association for the development of business relations with Chinese companies, which has been established in Belarus and has representatives in China.
