MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – Belarusian agricultural producers are approaching the 7-million-tonne mark in grain harvest, BelTA informs citing the CTV television channel.
Favorable weather conditions have allowed farmers to make up for lost time, with the harvesting expected to be completed within optimal timeframes.
Brest Oblast currently leads in harvest volumes, while northern Vitebsk Oblast is also gathering pace.
The Ustye farm of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) has now crossed the halfway mark. Average crop yields here exceed 50 centners per hectare, with winter barley setting a record of about 70 centners per hectare. The enterprise is on track to fulfill state grain procurement targets.
“We should admit that this year’s weather delayed harvesting. Our teams remained on standby across the fields throughout. Crucially, we’re harvesting without losses, though timelines will shift slightly. All crops we cultivate – cereals, rapeseed, and grass seed stock – originate from the NASB Scientific and Practical Center for Arable Farming. We propagate these cultivars on our production plots before distributing them to regional agricultural enterprises,” said Dmitry Batyukov, Director of NASB’s Ustye farm.
