Belarus moves to legalize token-based payments

MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Belarus is creating conditions for the use of digital tokens as a means of payment. The relevant resolution has been signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin, BelTA learned from the government press service.

The document establishes the cases in which legal entities may use tokens for payments conducted through crypto banks under foreign economic contracts. The right is granted to legal entities engaged in foreign trade, including the export and import of goods, services (works) and intellectual property. In certain cases, it also applies to the activities of forex companies and leasing organizations.

The resolution is aimed at implementing the mechanisms envisaged in Decree No. 19 “On crypto banks and some issues of regulation in digital tokens” of 16 January 2026. The new regulations provide additional opportunities for carrying out export and import transactions.
