Belarus’ milk output up by 5.5% in January-October 2024

SOLIGORSK DISTRICT, 27 November (BelTA) - In January-October 2024 milk production went up by 5.5% year-on-year, Belarusian Food and Agriculture Minister Anatoly Linevich said at a nation-wide seminar-meeting to sum up the results of cattle herd reproduction and livestock production in January-October 2024, BelTA has learned.

Livestock plays a key role in the economy of the agricultural sector of Belarus. It accounted for more than half of agricultural output. Animal husbandry, according to experts, is the major contributor to the export potential of the country's agricultural industry. "The industry has been gaining momentum, steadily increasing the output," the minister emphasized.

In January-October 2024, milk production in agricultural organizations rose by 5.5% year-on-year to total about 7.2 million tonnes. Production of livestock and poultry went up by 3.4% (about 1.5 million tonnes), including cattle - by 1.1% (540,800 tonnes), poultry - by 8.1% (598,200 tonnes). Gross production of the agricultural sector in farms of all categories rose by 3.2%, including animal husbandry – by 4.5%.
