MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits spoke about new milk processing projects to be implemented in Belarus in the near future on the air of the Economic Environment program on Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“One tonne of milk is produced per person per year, while we consume 247 kg. We sell 70% of our milk, 40% of our meat, and 30% of our eggs. We also provide for ourselves in terms of vegetables. Today’s food production allow us to feed two more countries the size of ours,” he stressed.
Aleksandr Yakovchits announced new milk processing projects. “For many years, we have not sold a single liter of raw milk outside the country. Today, we are moving into deep processing. We already have two enterprises producing whey protein concentrate. We will be producing milk protein concentrate,” he said.

The implementation of the state program Agricultural Industry of the Future will ensure that the country maintains its food security, regardless of external conditions. Looking ahead, the tasks set by the president at the second meeting of the seventh Belarusian People’s Congress are clear: we must earn from food exports with an annual minimum threshold of $12 billion. According to Aleksandr Yakovchits, the Russian Federation has been the number one export destination and will continue to be, with China in second place. India rounds out the top five. Exports to the Asian region amounted to $1 billion. Particular attention is paid to Africa – a market of the future. The exports include cheese, butter, dry dairy products, meat and meat products. In 2025, Belarus ranked fifth globally in butter exports.

To export more, you need to produce more. “5.5 million hectares of arable land are managed in line with scientific recommendations for all crops. We delivered a record harvest last year. The tasks for this year, I believe, are within the reach of farmers, because the grain and legume harvest is not only food but also animal feed. And the main path we will take in the next five years is the so-called intensive path – through modernization, technical re-equipment of agricultural enterprises and dairy complexes, through improving feed quality and adhering to technologies. We will ensure growth in meat and milk production. We have passed the 9 million tonne mark for milk. We are aiming to produce 10.5 million tonnes of milk by 2030. As for meat products, last year, we obtained 1.8 million tonnes of livestock and poultry in slaughter weight. Over two million tonnes is the target for 2030,” Aleksandr Yakovchits stressed.
