Belarus, Kazakhstan ready to advance cooperation in agribusiness, share best practices

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to share experience in agriculture with Kazakhstan and is interested in further expansion of partnership. First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov mentioned it during the first Belarusian-Kazakh agrarian forum, which took place in Astana, BelTA learned from the Belarusian government’s press service.

“Belarus does have considerable experience, competencies, and potential in establishing efficient agricultural enterprises. And we are ready to share it with Kazakhstan and organize joint projects,” the first deputy prime minister said.

Nikolai Snopkov added that cooperation in the field of scientific research, milk processing, the development of animal husbandry and crop production, phytosanitary and veterinary oversight, and the training of qualified personnel for the agricultural sector is promising.

More than 20 Belarusian enterprises and organizations presented their projects and business proposals at the forum. They demonstrated a wide range of initiatives in the agricultural and industrial sectors.

Nikolai Snopkov called the forum not only a convenient negotiating platform where reliable partners can be found, but also an efficient tool for strengthening mutually beneficial relations. He noted that countries face global challenges. Interaction should develop not only in the format of buying and selling, but should also be based on new forms and mechanisms.

The press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry said that agriculture makes up about 7% of the country’s GDP and provides more than 250,000 jobs. Belarus is one of the world’s top 10 exporters of dairy products and one of the top 15 exporters of meat products. Belarus’ share in mutual food export within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union can go as high as 40%, and Belarusian enterprises are ready to share advanced solutions in areas such as the digitization of animal husbandry, the design and construction of modern dairy complexes, seed production and crop protection, and the production of high-tech agricultural machines, equipment, and vehicles for feed production.

Special attention was paid at the forum to improving processing efficiency, developing veterinary oversight, and sustainable agriculture.

The forum was organized by the National Center for Marketing with the support of the Belarusian embassy in Kazakhstan and the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry. The forum brought together more than 100 representatives from Belarus and Kazakhstan, including heads of relevant ministries, leading agricultural companies, scientific research institutions, and business circles.
