MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarus ranks among Kazakhstan’s top ten partners in mutual trade of agricultural products, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.
The interaction between the two countries was discussed at the fifth meeting of the Belarus-Kazakhstan working group on exploring promising areas of cooperation in agriculture, which was attended by Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits.
The agenda included trade in agricultural and food products, cooperation in crop farming and animal husbandry, joint scientific research, innovation exchange, andcooperation in agricultural education and personnel training. Consideration was given to the status of investment and cooperation projects.
Aleksandr Yakovchits noted that Belarus is firmly among Kazakhstan’s top ten suppliers of agricultural products. In January-August 2025, the mutual trade in the agricultural sector increased by 22.7%.
The Kazakh side proposed extending the cooperation program in state testing and patent protection of plant varieties for 2026-2030, expanding its scope. The program also includes experience exchange, digitalization and automation of variety testing processes. The proposal received support, and the document was signed as a result of the meeting.
“I am sure that the reached agreements will lay a solid foundationfor enhancing and deepening our interaction to benefit the agricultural sectors of both Belarus and Kazakhstan. We look forward to continuing this productive dialogue,” Aleksandr Yakovchits noted.
The sixth meeting of the working group will take place in Belarus in 2026.
