Belarus’ investment in technological development shapes economy of future

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) — Belarus invests in technological development and modernization of enterprises to lay the foundation of the economy of the future, Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said during his working visit to Brest Oblast, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Economy Ministry.

The minister held a meeting with the staff of the Luninets dairy plant. On the eve of the 85th anniversary of the reunification of Western Belarus and the BSSR, the participants of the meeting discussed the importance of preserving the national unity as an essential condition for strengthening the country’s statehood and sustainable social and economic development. According to Yuri Chebotar, being united by the spirit of creation, Belarusians have managed not only to preserve, but also to significantly increase the industrial potential developed by the predecessors.

"Many high-tech and infrastructure projects have been implemented over the years of independence. The Belarusian nuclear power plant, the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone, the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation have been added to the list of landmark facilities. These and many other modern facilities form a new high-tech image of the domestic industry," the minister emphasized. "Nowadays Belarus creates the most comfortable conditions for local enterprises to invest in technological development and renewal, laying the foundation of the economy of the future."

Yuri Chebotar took stock of the progress made in the implementation of the investment project on construction of a workshop for the dry dairy products at the Luninets dairy plant.

The program of the minister's visit to Brest Oblast also included a tour to Spetszhelezobeton enterprise, which upgrades its production capacities as part of the One District, One Project program.

“Developing the production of new innovative import-substituting products, enterprises boost their competitiveness and open new markets. This contributes to the growth of wages and improve living standards in the regions,” Yuri Chebotar said.

The minister also studied the activity of Polesieelektromash enterprise and Novitskiye farm. The minister also monitored the implementation of the projects within the One District, One Project program in Gantsevichi District and Lyakhovichi District. Thus, the development of a high-tech biopharmaceutical production of medicines is underway at the branch of the National Scientific and Practical Center of Transfusiology and Medical Biotechnology in Gantsevichi. The Lyakhovichi linen mill is gearing up to launch cotonized flax fiber. Yuri Chebotar discussed with the heads of the enterprises the prospects of production development and issues arising during the projects’ implementation, as well as ways to solve them. It was mentioned that the implementation of the projects proceeds according to the schedule.
