Belarus, Hungary to expand cooperation in agriculture

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Belarus is interested in increasing cooperation in the agricultural sector with Hungary. The matter was discussed at the meeting of Belarus' Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Khotko with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto on 3 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

The parties discussed cooperation plans in food supplies, investment, poultry farming, and agricultural education. Anatoly Khotko invited Hungary to take part in the Belagro 2020 international expo that will take place in Belarus on 2-6 June.

Belarus-Hungary trade in agricultural products and foodstuffs amounted to $17 million in 2019, up 12.3% year-on-year. At the same time everything is in place to diversify this trade. Belarus exports oil crops (including seeds) and shellfish to Hungary and imports Hungary's seed corn, pedigree poultry, vegetables, mineral water, live plants (including roots), seeds and chocolate.
