MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – It is important to continue active public work and to fulfill people’s expectations and suggestions that they voiced during the election period, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with his authorized representatives at the last presidential election, BelTA learned .
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that citizens showed very high support. “The presidential election is behind us. The official results have been announced. We can rejoice at the overwhelming support, which has never happened in history before. On the one hand, yes, we can rejoice. But don't forget the other side. Such support requires a corresponding return from us,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked the authorized representatives for the support they provided during the election campaign and asked them to continue their public work. “I would like you to continue your work. Where you are in position to solve some issue, please do. But when not, please inform me. You must be objective and fair. Please keep me will informed on the issues I have to respond to,” the president said.

The head of state noted that he had a conversation with Prosecutor General Andrei Shved before the meeting with the authorized representatives. He is in charge of the system that looks after uniform and accurate observance of legislation in the country. “We need to give credit to him. Andrei Shved is an unbiased person. He reports an objective picture to the president, even when he realizes that some people in uniform might harbor some grievances against him for that. Therefore, I ask you to get involved in this work and be visible in society and inform me about the measures I should take,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
“You know I'm good for it. I understand the responsibility. A huge percentage of people gave their support. I realize that more people could have voted. But they thought that ‘it's fine as it is, the support is huge; we don't have to go to the polls.’. Consider that 90% of the population unequivocally supports us. We must live up to people's expectations, no matter how difficult it may be. It is very important. We can do it. For that we need iron executive discipline,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.
