MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Hungary will expand the range of goods traded on the commodity exchange platform, the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) told BelTA.
Following negotiations with representatives of Hungarian business circles held during the Belarusian-Hungarian business forum in Minsk, plans are in place to broaden the range of products involved in exchange transactions between economic entities of both countries.
According to BUCE, Hungarian participants in this year’s exchange trading have so far used the platform exclusively to purchase zinc-containing waste. Nevertheless, in January-August 2025, the total value of contracts increased by 2.5 times.
New growth areas in Belarus-Hungary exchange trade are expected to include the supply of veterinary medicines and sowing seeds to the Belarusian market. Both product categories are in high demand among Belarusian agricultural enterprises, which is reflected in the volume of transactions.
In January-August 2025, Belarusian residents purchased veterinary medicines to the tune of Br120 million via the exchange, which was a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Sales of sowing seeds on the exchange also showed a notable year-on-year growth: up 17%, reaching Br241 million. The most in-demand items were seeds of corn, rapeseed, beet, and perennial leguminous grasses. Suppliers included both Belarusian and international companies from Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Serbia, and France.
In order to expand the pool of Hungarian producers represented on the exchange, BUCE has reached an agreement with the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency. The agency will support Hungarian businesses in entering the Belarusian electronic trading platform. Currently, 25 Hungarian residents are accredited on BUCE.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
