
MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) - Some 1.75 million tonnes of grain has been threshed in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“As of 30 July, some 1,750,000 tonnes of grain were cropped in Belarus. The average yields are 8.7 centners per hectare higher than those a year ago,” the ministry said.
The regional breakdown is the following: Brest Oblast harvested 467,000 tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast 81,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast 211,000 tonnes, Grodno Oblast 437,000 tonnes, Minsk Oblast 402,000 tonnes, Mogilev Oblast 152,000 tonnes. Belarus has harvested 21% of areas planted to grain crops (maize, buckwheat and millet not taken into account), which makes up 411,000 hectares.
Winter barley has been harvested from 94% of the sown area, winter rapeseed for grain - from 160,000 hectares (42% of the total area), producing 284,500 tonnes. Winter barley has yielded 917,000 tonnes at an average of 39.9 centners per hectare, 7.6 centners per hectare more than the previous year. Rapeseed has yielded 338,000 tonnes.
Flax has been pulled from 16,000 hectares, accounting for almost 34% of the planned area.
Second-cut grasses have been mowed on 784,000 hectares, reaching 73% of the target. Over 278,000 tonnes of hay (almost 39% of the plan) and 10.8 million tonnes of haylage (77% of the plan) have been prepared so far, including 295,000 tonnes stored in polymer packaging.
