
MINSK, 3 September (BelTA) - Over 8.8 million tonnes of grain has been threshed in Belarus so far, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.
“As of 3 September, some 8,824,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, were cropped in Belarus,” the press service informed.
The regional breakdown is the following: Vitebsk Oblast – 925,000 tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 1.040 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 1.219 million tonnes, Brest Oblast – 1.674 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – 1.735 million tonnes, Minsk Oblast - 2.230 million tonnes.
Belarus has harvested 96% of areas planted to grain and leguminous crops (maize not taken into account), which makes up 2,322,000 hectares. Average grain yield is 8.4 centners per hectare higher than last year’s level.
Some 644,000 tonnes of food grain have been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 92% of the target.
Winter grains for grain have been sown across 27,000 hectares, 3% of the plan. Flax has been pulled from 47,000 hectares, accounting for 97% of the planned area.
Sugar beet has been harvested from 7% of the area, which amounts to 7,000 hectares. Maize for silage and green fodder has been harvested from 4% of the area, which is 34,000 hectares.
Some 430,000 tonnes of hay (60% of the plan) and 12.863 million tonnes of haylage (92% of the plan) have been prepared so far, including 431,000 tonnes stored in polymer packaging. Forage production has reached 4.125 million tonnes (41% of the target).
Over 65,000 tonnes of potatoes have already been harvested, with the average yield above last year’s by 64.6 centners per hectare.
