MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) – Deputy Head of the Central Office for Intensification of Animal Farming and Poultry Farming of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry Olga Boreisha has revealed how much fish Belarus imports, BelTA has learned.
Olga Boreisha said: “We imported 185,000 tonnes of fish and sea food in 2023 or slightly more than we did in 2022. Belarus is no sea power, this is why we import sea fish. Import from regions of Russia is on the rise. Among other things we are now in negotiations with Kamchatka Peninsula.”
As for export, Belarusian fish farms sell about 2,000 tonnes of fish every year. The fish mainly comes from the trout farm Lokhva, the fish farm Selets in Bereza District, and the fish farm Volma in Cherven District.
