MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) – The Development Bank of Belarus has presented financial instruments to implement joint projects with Russia's Khabarovsk Territory, the bank's press service told BelTA.

A big delegation from Khabarovsk Territory is on a working visit to Belarus. The country's economic sector presented its export potential, including financial instruments to facilitate the purchase of Belarusian goods and services. While one part of the Russian delegation negotiated with potential suppliers of Belarusian products, the other studied the Development Bank's export support instruments.

“Cooperation with the Far East is high on the agenda of the Belarusian president. Despite the significant distance, we are determined to expand mutually beneficial economic partnership,” said Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank Sergei Stolyarchuk.

He noted that the Development Bank is an institution that helps the government  implement projects in key economic sectors. One of its areas of activity is provision of financial instruments to promote exports. “Belarusian products have earned a good reputation in many regions of the Russian Federation. They have another serious competitive advantage - the Development Bank offers financing to purchase these products. Therefore, during our meeting today we will thrash out cooperation plans and ways to implement them,” said Sergei Stolyarchuk.

Acting First Deputy Chairman of the Khabarovsk Territory Government  Sergei Abramov said that the region is interested in collaboration with the Development Bank in order to fulfill serious tasks in the mining industry, infrastructure, construction of roads and social facilities. “This concerns the supply of mechanical engineering equipment and other types of equipment, as well as the services of Belarusian specialists. I am convinced that cooperation will be mutually beneficial and comfortable, because the tasks set by our presidents rely on centuries-old common history and seek to bolster the stability of domestic economies. This will be the key to success,” Sergei Abramov emphasized.

“Over the 11 months of last year, the trade between Belarus and Khabarovsk Territory reached its highest level since 2019 - almost $50 million, up by more than 45% year-on-year. The export grew by over 85%, exceeding the $47 million mark. Belarus and Khabarovsk Territory plan to achieve even higher results. During the meeting, the Russian delegation was told in detail about the conditions and mechanisms of export financing offered by the Development Bank, which will allow the effective implementation of the plans,” the bank noted.
