MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) - Ufa has received five additional Gorozhanin trolleybuses with extended autonomous run manufactured using MAZ vehicle kits, BelTA learned from the MAZ press service.
This batch wraps up the contract for 15 vehicles. The trolleybuses are undergoing final preparations and will soon enter service on city routes.
“This is the result of Russian-Belarusian cooperation. Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) became a strategic partner of Ufa Tram and Trolleybus Plant in 2019. This integration is only strengthening, enabling the production of high-quality vehicles,” the MAZ press service quoted Ufa Mayor Ratmir Mavliev as saying.
The head of the city administration highlighted the importance of the new vehicles for the city's electric transport fleet. However, he emphasized that this is only the beginning. According to him, Ufa needs about 20 more such trolleybuses. The authorities plan to acquire them this year, completing the electric transport renewal program.
Over the past five years, the capital of Bashkortostan has received 49 units of this model.
