Azerbaijan expresses interest in Belarusian machinery

AGHDAM, 6 May (BelTA) – Belarusian machinery is in high demand in Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov said during a ceremony to hand over the MAZ-5907S2-012 utility vehicle to the Restoration, Construction, and Management Service in the districts of Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend of Azerbaijan, BelTA has learned.

The ceremony was held during a visit to the revitalized territories of Aghdam District. Participating in it was Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin.

Director General of MAZ Valery Ivankovich provided details about the vehicle. He explained that it is designed for waste collection and disposal. "The uniqueness of this vehicle lies in its chassis, which is also used for fire trucks and other specialized equipment already operating in Azerbaijan. I believe this is a promising direction for the revitalized lands of Azerbaijan. We supply the chassis and have the experience to establish an assembly production, which could be supported by the Ganja Automobile Plant," he emphasized.

Valery Ivankovich noted that such production would be a valuable asset for these regions, ensuring that major cities in the districts are equipped with the necessary machinery.

He presented a certificate for the vehicle to Prime Minister Ali Asadov. "This vehicle is the first step in our joint project. I hope that within a few years, this project will evolve into a full-scale industrial complex that we will develop together," the MAZ director general said.

Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin pointed out that his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed a task to improve fire truck assembly and vehicle maintenance services. The parties plan to actively work on this task in the near future.

Ali Asadov expressed gratitude for the gift. He hoped that MAZ and the Ganja Automobile Plant will continue to cooperate. "MAZ products are renowned in Azerbaijan. The Minsk Tractor Plant’s machinery is also in high demand here. This equipment has always been used in our country," he stated.
