Ambassador: Zimbabwean farmers ready to purchase Belarusian machinery

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) - Belarus has supplied over 2,000 units of agricultural machinery to Zimbabwe, Belarus’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Zimbabwe Igor Marshalov said in an interview with STV channel, BelTA has learned.

Belarus and Zimbabwe share a strong focus on agriculture. “We have already jointly carried out two phases of farm mechanization. Over 2,000 units of agricultural machinery have been delivered to Zimbabwe. In 2023, during the visit of our head of state to Zimbabwe, the third phase of agricultural mechanization was launched, with ongoing deliveries of machinery, including combine harvesters, tractors, seeders, and various attachments,” Igor Marshalov said.
According to the ambassador, four service centers for Belarusian machinery have been opened in Zimbabwe. “At an opening ceremony, I heard the most positive feedback: farmers are ready to buy and service our equipment. They also want accessories and attachments,” he added.

The countries reviewed bilateral legislation and previously signed agreements, Igor Marshalov said. “Currently, over 20 agreements are in progress, six of which are ready for signing. A series of visits by ministries and agencies from both sides is planned to sign these agreements,” he said.
