Ambassador outlines key areas of Vietnam-Belarus cooperation

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – Vietnam is interested in expanding cooperation with Belarus, particularly in high technology, environmentally friendly agriculture, and renewable energy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Belarus Nguyen Van Trung said during the Belarus-Vietnam business forum in Minsk on 22 September, BelTA has learned.

“This forum is an opportunity for business representatives from both countries to meet, exchange experience, and sign strategic contracts. Nearly 50 Belarusian enterprises are participating, representing a wide range of sectors from manufacturing industry to high tech. Together with Vietnamese partners, we are committed to building stable and effective ties,” the ambassador said. “This event gained even greater significance following the visit of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam to Belarus in May this year. His visit not only strengthened political relations but also opened up unprecedented opportunities for economic cooperation.”
In order to fully unlock the potential of bilateral ties, Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung urged entrepreneurs from both countries to actively explore each other’s markets and take advantage of the visa waiver. “We must focus on such priority areas as high technology, agriculture, renewable energy, and the food industry,” he added.

“Vietnam and Belarus enjoy comprehensive cooperation. In difficult times, our peoples have always stood shoulder to shoulder and supported one another. Belarus is not only a reliable partner but also a true friend of Vietnam. Its contributions to education, science, and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic are vivid proof of this friendship,” the diplomat emphasized. “In 2024, according to Belarusian economic statistics, total trade [between Belarus and Vietnam] reached $244.2 million. Our countries have many complementary strengths. Vietnam exports seafood, wood products, textiles, footwear, rice, and agricultural goods to Belarus, while Belarus supplies us with high-quality products such as fertilizers, agricultural machinery, and industrial equipment.”
The ambassador noted that investment cooperation is opening up many new opportunities between the countries. “There is strong potential for cooperation expansion, especially in high technology, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy,” he concluded.
