50bn kWh of electricity generated by BelNPP since launch

LYAKHOVICHI DISTRICT, 3 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) has generated 50 billion kWh of electricity since launch, BelTA learned from Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz during a press tour dedicated to the Oil, Gas and Fuel Industry Workers’ Day.
“On 2 September 2025 at 17:35 the BelNPP generated 50 billion kWh of electricity. This is a huge amount, which exceeds the annual electricity consumption in Belarus. This has allowed us to save over 13.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by almost 20 million tonnes,” the minister said.

According to him, the Belarusian nuclear power plant operates in a stable and reliable manner. “This is one of the safest designs in the world. We are in constant interaction with the international community, including the International Atomic Energy Agency missions. Just recently Rafael Grossi [the director general of the agency] saw for himself that the power plant is operated as safely as possible,” the energy minister emphasized.
