Exhibition of Belarusian, Russian innovations kicks off at 4th Forum of Regions

MOSCOW, 29 June (BelTA) – Chairman of Belarus' Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairperson of the Federation Council of Russia's Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko inaugurated an exhibition of achievements in innovations, science, and technology in Moscow on 29 June, BelTA has learned.

The exhibition makes part of the 4th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia taking place in Moscow from 29 to 30 June.

According to Valentina Matviyenko, the forum has already become a good tradition for both countries. It tends to feature specialized exhibitions. In 2017, the exhibition is dedicated to the Belarusian and Russian achievements in innovations, high technology, and IT.

Today's event is to showcase dozens of best samples of high-tech products in electric transport and metallurgy that largely contribute to the economic competitiveness of both countries, Valentina Matviyenko underlined.

She also remarked that nowadays one cannot stay competitive alone. In this respect the Russian official invited Belarus to intensify cooperation to boost both countries' competitiveness and help them keep up with other players in foreign markets. “We need to harness our potential and move forward,” she said.

Valentina Matviyenko stressed the importance of expanding Belarus-Russia regional cooperation. The more proactive it is, the more effective the bilateral cooperation will be, she pointed out.

For his part, Mikhail Myasnikovich noted that Belarus has high expectations of the forum. According to him, the country pins great hopes on the exhibition as it showcases Belarus' most ambitious innovations. The exhibition can be said to comprise two parts: the results of Belarus-Russia cooperation and their unique achievements. The Belarusian innovations compose 14 sections representing the priority areas, among them youth projects and ideas. This is quite relevant since 2017 has been announced the Year of Science in Belarus. “Our products are in high demand and bring real results. Together we truly can fulfill many tasks, including those in import substitution. I am referring to the fifth and sixth wave of innovation,” Mikhail Myasnikovich added and expressed confidence that the exhibition and the forum will be followed by new important projects and contracts.
