Brest to expand cooperation with Poland in healthcare

BREST, 5 August (BelTA) – Brest Oblast Hospital plans to expand cooperation with medical centers of Poland, BelTA learnt from head doctor of the Brest medical establishment Alexander Karpitsky.

Under the Poland-Belarus-Ukraine cross-border cooperation program, Brest Oblast Hospital and a hospital from Polish Biala Podlaska have plans to implement a project aimed at improving the quality of diagnostics and treatment of communicable diseases. The partner initiative envisages the purchase of modern equipment for the Belarusian and Polish regions.

“We have already held talks and are ready for the implementation of the initiative. We know which equipment we need. We only need to discuss the details of the new project,” said Alexander Karlitsky. He added that last year Brest Oblast Hospital and the hospital from Biala Podlaska implemented a project to develop cardiological assistance to residents of Belarus and Poland.

Brest Oblast Hospital also plans to establish cooperation with a hospital of Leczna, Lublin Province. The two medical institutions have outlined a joint project to develop endoscopic services to the Belarusian and Polish population. During the recent meeting specialists of the two hospitals were unanimous in the necessity to purchase equipment for minimally invasive surgeries.

A delegation of Brest health workers will take part in the second Belarusian-Polish summit Health Shield 2016 which is due to take place in Biala Podlaska on 20-21 October. Medical specialists will discuss themes related to ambulance services, informational support of healthcare establishments. Participants of the summit will also discuss health promotion prospects for Belarus and Poland. The forum will review the results of the previous Poland-Belarus-Ukraine cross-border cooperation program and discuss cooperation prospects through 2020.
