Belarusian PM joins national cleanup day in Minsk Oblast

KOPYL DISTRICT, 20 April (BelTA) - A team of senior officials of the Belarusian government headed by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko joined the national cleanup day in Minsk Oblast and are planting oak seedlings in the Kolovsky forestry of the Kopyl experimental forestry enterprise, BelTA has learned.
“This year we are planting oak trees. It is a powerful eternal tree, a symbol of strength and perseverance. At the moment, the tree is a good fit for our country," Roman Golovchenko said.

Before the start of the work, the prime minister, his deputies and the chief of the Council of Ministers Office planted 18 thuya trees in the place of a battle of 18 partisans with the Nazi invaders near the village of Lavy, Kopyl District.

At the end of 1942, German troops launched a punitive expedition against the partisans of Kopyl District, Uzda District and Nesvizh District of Minsk Oblast. In December, 7,000 fascists with tanks, guns and mortars launched an offensive against the Voroshilov Brigade. In order to have time to evacuate the wounded and concentrate forces for the decisive battle, one of the detachments under the command of Vikenty Drozdovich was sent to defensive positions. Having destroyed 85 Nazis, the entire group perished an unequal battle.
