Lukashenko: Security threats are multiplying, while international organizations fail at peacekeeping

MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) - Security threats are multiplying, while the peacekeeping mission of international organizations is failing, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the 7th Belarusian People's Congress in Minsk on 24 April, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that all kinds of experts talk about the West’s vested interests in international structures, while the less radical ones call them ‘hostages of geopolitical confrontation’.

“What is the difference whether they are ideological globalists or ‘hostages’? Look: in fact the situation is absurd. Threats to security are multiplying almost every day, and the peacekeeping mission of international structures is being lost. This is good for those who would do anything to prevent Eurasian civilizational development. All this is hidden behind a screen of idle talk,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled the climate conference that took place in the UAE in 2023. Leaders of Western states told other countries how to live to protect the planet, but no one spoke out in favor of stopping military conflicts. “Stop fighting and emissions will be reduced manyfold. Send the money to those who are poor and suffering today,” the president offered a simple solution. “They think we do not see the truth behind all this talk.”

“Imagine what will happen to the Anglo-Saxon hegemony if all this vast space from Lisbon to Beijing is connected by a new Silk Road. Imagine what will happen to the European Union whose citizens will see that it is possible to develop and live in prosperity without trading their sovereignty, without betraying national interests and without killing people. No matter how much the Americans demand from their vassals, they take turns going to China to see Xi Jinping. What does that say? It shows that no matter how foolish are they acting, they are still looking forward. They understand that China is unstoppable, and much will depend on China in the future,” the head of state said.

In general, many have started to see the true picture, he added. Poland has already tried to raise the issue of the priority of national law over European Union law. “They were quickly put in their place. This topic however will continue to gain momentum. It will not disappear,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Hungary is also speaking out its position. France has its own acts of disobedience. According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, it is also an attempt to break out of overall obedience, to make their presence known somehow.

“International agreements, integration unions are necessary. But they need to respect national sovereignties, build interaction between the participants through dialogue, consensus, search for compromises. Security should be equal and common for all the countries. I agree with the experts who say that cooperation and security systems can and should be built within the framework of Greater Eurasia,” the Belarusian leader said.
