Lukashenko lauds progress in housing delivery in Belarus

MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Over the years of independence, almost a million families have improved their living conditions in Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the 7th Belarusian People's Congress in Minsk on 24 April, BelTA has learned.

"Almost a million families have improved their living conditions over these years. Hundreds of thousands of apartments have been built with state support. Comfortable and modern," Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “In 1995 a little more than half of the population lived in comfortable apartments and houses. Today we are close to one 100% (94%). An increase of 1.5 times. In rural communities the figure has increased three times."

The share of families who are satisfied with their living conditions is almost 90%. "You know my position. The figure is good, but it should be higher," the head of state said.
