MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko cast his vote in the Belarusian People's Congress leadership elections, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko was nominated as chairman of the Belarusian People's Congress, and Aleksandr Kosinets - as deputy chairman.
"I'm voting. I ticked every box. I am voting in favor," the head of state said as he cast his ballot into the ballot box.
According to the legislation on the Belarusian People's Congress, the chairman, his deputy and the Presidium of the Belarusian People's Congress are elected by secret ballot. Voting booths have been set up in the Palace of the Republic specifically for this procedure, and the Counting Commission will announce the results later in the day.
