MINSK, 24 April (BelTA) – The people of Belarus know what it means to be strong in the name of peace, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the 7th Belarusian People's Congress in Minsk on 24 April, BelTA has learned.
The head of state called it symbolic that the Belarusian People's Congress is beginning its work with the discussion and adoption of the most important documents ensuring national security.
"Belarus is a small country. Belarusians are a very peace-loving people, with a powerful vital energy reserve. The reserve is unique. It helped the nation to survive in different periods of history. The maniacal desire of some countries to be the powers that be is incomprehensible and alien to us. But we know what it means to be strong in the name of peace," Aleksandr Lukashenko said. "It's our memory. This is our historical experience, which has cost us dearly."
