Election 2015. Belarus respects Ukraine's choice

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) – Belarus respects Ukraine's choice of development, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko told media at polling station No.1 on 11 October, BelTA informs.

Alexander Lukashenko said he is okay with the fact that “Ukraine would like to taste the EU's bread”. “However, you should remember that you will bear responsibility for any consequences. Will you be able to compete in the European Union? The European Union has opened a free trade zone for you. What have you sold to the EU? It is not so easy as it seems,” the Belarusian head of state said.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus tried to enter the European market with its agricultural produce. “Some of our companies succeeded. I know how difficult it was to do, and it only concerns one area. The rest that we and Ukraine produce is available in the European Union. It is not easy to make your way there, both due to competition and protective measures of the European market,” said the President of Belarus.

“I know that Russia has abandoned this idea, at least for now, after seeing your progress in the free trade zone with the European Union,” Alexander Lukashenko said addressing a journalist from Ukraine.

“You have chosen your way. We respect it. We will adjust to the policy you conduct, the course you follow. We will not criticize you if it does not concern us. We will not hamper you,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
