KIEV, 21 July (BelTA) – The official visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko to Ukraine is now over. The aircraft with the Belarusian head of state on board has left for Minsk, BelTA has learned.
In Kiev Alexander Lukashenko met with Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko. The two leaders discussed the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting in April 2017. New avenues for advancing Belarus-Ukraine cooperation were sketched out.
In particular, Belarus and Ukraine are interested in expanding export, advancing manufacturing cooperation, in joint projects to modernize the road and transport infrastructure, in the assimilation of innovative technologies. Possibilities of cooperation in power engineering and energy resources, border cooperation were also discussed.
Alexander Lukashenko confirmed Belarus' readiness to assist with the peaceful resolution of the situation in Ukraine in every possible way.
As a result of the talks bilateral documents on advancing cooperation in various spheres were signed.
A Belarusian-Ukrainian business forum also took place in Kiev on 21 July. Contracts and agreements worth over $45 million were signed as a result.
