Trilateral contact group on Ukraine calls for stopping violations of Minsk agreements

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – The trilateral contact group on Ukraine insists that violations of the Minsk package of agreements must stop immediately, BelTA learned from OSCE special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik as he voiced the relevant statement made by the contact group on 17 November.

The statement reads: “Due to the worsening security situation along the contact line, including serious violations of the ceasefire regime, the trilateral contact group calls for an immediate cessation of all actions, which are inconsistent with the signed agreements and efforts to peacefully resolve the conflict as part of the Minsk process.”

The document reads that the deterioration of the state of affairs in the conflict zone once again leads to human casualties. The fact is a serious hindrance standing in the way of the return of refugees and internally displaced persons, in the way of humanitarian aid and infrastructure restoration efforts.

“The resumption of armed hostilities and consequent possible disruption of the implementation of the Minsk agreements must be avoided,” the statement underlines.

According to Martin Sajdik, the trilateral contact group calls for immediate action to normalize the situation in the conflict zone and for the rigid observance of all the Minsk agreements.
