Makei: The trilateral contact group on Ukraine should continue its work

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – The activity of the trilateral contact group on Ukraine should be continue continued, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he spoke at the international conference “One Year of Minsk-II Accords: Achievements, Challenges, Lessons Learned” on 11 February, BelTA informs.

Greeting the participants of the meeting, Vladimir Makei thanked international experts and representatives of the expert initiative Minsk Dialogue (Belarus) for Minsk being chosen at the time as a venue to discuss the issues of the international agenda. In his words, the idea of such debates is of special importance in the present-day conditions when “the world is rolling down to the times of a cold war.”

The minister also stressed that the Minsk Agreements remain a universal mechanism in settling the Ukrainian conflict. “They were timely and helped save thousands of lives,” said Vladimir Makei.
