MFA: Belarus, Austria restore all institutional mechanisms for economic interaction

MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) - Belarus and Austria have restored all institutional mechanisms for economic interaction, Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alena Kupchyna said at the 13th meeting of the Belarusian-Austrian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.

Alena Kupchyna stressed that in recent years the Belarusian-Austrian cooperation has been rapidly developing in various fields, including in politics and economy. “I am happy to note that together with our Austrian partners we have resumed the operation of all institutional mechanisms for economic interaction which, for one reason or another, mostly political ones, were not engaged for some time,” Alena Kupchyna said.

She also noted that the meeting of the commission is co-located with the Belarusian-Austrian Business Forum. More than 100 Belarusian enterprises and some 25 Austrian companies showed interest in the event.

For his part, Director General for Foreign Economic Relations at the Federal Ministry of Science, Research And Economy Franz Wessig noted that Austria has a great interest in cooperation with Belarus. “In the European Union we are trying to raise our voice for Belarus and to support the country in the best way possible,” he said.
