First deal to sell grain for export registered at Belarusian commodity exchange

MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) registered the first deal to sell grain for export, BelTA learned from BUCE spokesman Roman Yaniv.

“The ever first deal to sell grain for export was registered at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. 15,000 tonnes of rye worth over $1.5 million was sold to Ukraine in just one trading session,” Roman Yaniv informed.

He also said that there has been increased demand from Russian consumers for Belarusian dairy products since November 2015. Over the past month, domestic enterprises sold 2,300 tonnes of skimmed milk powder and 440 tonnes of dried whole milk for $6 million through the commodity exchange.

“Taking into account the February deals, the total BUCE transactions with agricultural products amounted to Br726 billion since the beginning of the year. That was up 44% from the same period in 2015,” Roman Yaniv said.
