MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Slovenia will intensify cooperation in transport, investment, and agriculture, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko told the media on 27 June as he commented on the seventh meeting of the Belarusian-Slovenian intergovernmental commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, BelTA has learned.
“Minsk is hosting the seventh meeting of the Belarusian-Slovenian intergovernmental commission for trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation. The event has been very fruitful, above our expectations. We have discussed the results that we have already achieved and identified promising areas for future cooperation. These include transport, innovations, investment, standardization, and agriculture. This is a truly impressive list of potential joint projects of interest to the two countries,” the diplomat stressed.
Oleg Kravchenko noted that Slovenia is an important partner in terms of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, with a strong voice in the European Union. “We are interested in further development of this cooperation. We already have considerable achievements in trade and investments. For instance, the Slovenian company Riko is playing a significant role on the Belarusian market. Belarusbank signed a memorandum of cooperation with Slovenian SID Bank. The document provides Belarusian and Slovenian businessmen with financial instruments for trade operations. The Slovenian company Iskratel and Belarusian Railways are working to strengthen cooperation. The famous Slovenian pharmaceutical company Krka and Borisov Pharmaceutical Plant are considering cooperation opportunities, including the possibility of manufacturing pharmaceutical products here, in Belarus, to have access to the market of the Eurasian Economic Union,” Oleg Kravchenko added.
Robert Kokalj, Director-General for Economic and Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, noted that the parties are also interested in bolstering ties in education and power engineering. “We have plans to sign cooperation agreements in education, and ratify the agreement on joint investments and their protection. Green economy and information technology are of great interest to us. Apart from that, today we have finished another round of talks on cooperation in air transport, communications between our countries,” he said.
The participants signed the final protocol of the meeting.
