Belarus budget 2016 to preserve priority on education, healthcare, security

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – Education, healthcare and security will remain the main targets in Belarus' budget spending next year, Finance Minister Vladimir Amarin said as he presented the draft budget to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on 17 December, BelTA has learned.

The draft budget for 2016 passed its first reading at the House of Representatives on 17 December. According to Vladimir Amarin, the budget revenue is envisaged at Br180.59 trillion, up 9.6% over the expected budget performance in 2015. Budget expenditure will make up Br163.41 trillion (up 6.9%). The state budget surplus will total Br17.17 trillion.

The key areas for development in 2016 will include the export growth and diversification, job creation, enhancement of the efficient use of state property.

According to Vladimir Amarin, the 2016 budget will remain socially-oriented with the priority placed on financing education and healthcare. The family capital will total Br2 trillion next year. A considerable part of the budget will include expenses on salaries, pensions, scholarships, benefits and other payments, and also resources to fund the implementation of state social standards.
