MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) — Belarus’ world number 107 Aliaksandra Sasnovich went off to a good start in the 2025 French Open, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian defeated Russia’s world number 162 Tatiana Prozorova, 6-4, 6-3 in the first qualifying round. Aliaksandra Sasnovich will next play world number 153 Lucrezia Stefanini of Italy.
Belarus’ world number 221 Kristina Dmitruk beat China’s World No.131 Sijia Wei, 6-1, 7-5. The Belarusian will next take on Australia’s world number 155 Maddison Inglis who saw off Belarus’ world number 167 Iryna Shymanovich, 6-1, 6-1. Tennis players need to go through three qualifying matches in order to reach the main draw.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and Belarus’ world number 73 Victoria Azarenka will play in the Roland Garros main draw which will be running from 25 May to 8 June.
