MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 31 Aliaksandra Sasnovich went off to a good start at the 2022 Ostrava Open solving world number 16 Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia, 6-2, 6-2 in an hour and 13 minutes, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian will next face world number 26 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.
Former world number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, currently ranked 24, lost to Russia's world number 21 Ekaterina Alexandrova, 4-6, 6-4, 2-6.
In the doubles opener at the Jasmin Open in Tunisia Belarus' Lidzya Marozava and Kaitlyn Christian of the United States will take on Romania's Jaqueline Cristian and Diane Parry of France.
The tournaments in the Czech Republic and Tunisia will be over on 9 October.
