Sabalenka makes third straight Australian Open final

MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) - World number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus booked a spot in her third consecutive final at the Australian Open, defeating World No.12 Paula Badosa of Spain, 6-4, 6-2, BelTA has learned.

The match lasted for an hour and 25 minutes.

Aryna Sabalenka will next play either World No.2 Iga Swiatek of Poland or World No.14 Madison Keys of the United States. Aryna Sabalenka won the Australian Open in 2023 and 2024.

The men’s semifinals will take place on 24 January. Italy’s world number one Jannik Sinner will face world number 20 Ben Shelton of the United States. World No.7 Novak Djokovic of Serbia will take on Germany’s world number two Alexander Zverev. The final is scheduled for 26 January. Jannik Sinner of Italy won the champion title in 2024.

The 2025 Australian Open overall prize pool has been set at almost $60 million. Winners in the men’s and women’s events will earn $2.1 million each.
