MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka defeated Japan’s world number 16 Naomi Osaka, 6-2, 6-4, in the Indian Wells third match, BelTA has learned.
Prior to this, Aryna Sabalenka beat Japan’s world number 132 Himeno Sakatsume, 6-4, 6-2, and Romania’s Jacqueline Cristian (World No.35), 6-4, 6-1.
The event in Indian Wells will conclude on 15 March. In last year’s final, Aryna Sabalenka lost to Russia’s Mirra Andreeva, and in the decisive match of 2023, she was defeated by Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina. Belarusian Victoria Azarenka won the tournament in 2012 and 2016.
