MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – Chairman of the republican state and public association Presidential Sports Club Dmitry Lukashenko has been awarded a medal by Belarus’ National Olympic Committee (NOC), the press service of Belarus’ NOC told BelTA.
The award in honor of the club’s anniversary was presented by Viktor Lukashenko, President of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus. Employees of the Presidential Sports Club were also awarded certificates of merit and letters of commendation from the NOC.
“I remember well that day 20 years ago when this process began. I remember how the presidential decree and the organization’s areas of work were worked out. It was difficult to start in a field that had been already established and was functioning at that time. Nevertheless, the club managed to find its niche and entered it competently and successfully. It was even more complicated to keep up the standard and you have managed to do it brilliantly. The Presidential Sports Club is one of the most talented, strong, and creative teams in the sport industry. And the number of awards presented during the Pro Sport marketing contest is excellent proof of this,” said the NOC head.
Over the 20 years of the club’s work the club’s scholarship recipients have won about 1,700 medals at the largest international competitions, including 27 awards at eight Olympic Games. Nine of the club’s scholarship recipients have become Olympic champions. At eight Paralympics 30 medals have been won, 24 of which are gold ones.
