Olympics 2024: Kadzimahamedau, Valodzka to set Belarus’ action in weightlifting, wrestling underway

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ wrestler Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau and Belarus’ weightlifter Siuzanna Valodzka will compete at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games on 9 August, BelTA has learned.

Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau will face Uzbekistan’s Razambek Zhamalov in the 74kg opening bout. The winner will next take on Slovakia’s Tajmuraz Salkazanov. All bouts including semifinals are scheduled for 9 August, with medal bouts due to take place on 10 August. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Mahamedkhabib Kadzimahamedau clinched silver. The athlete also was second at the 2024 European Wrestling Championships.

Suizanna Valodzka will compete for medals in the 71kg women’s weightlifting. The event will feature 12 athletes, with the Belarusian competing against weightlifters from  the USA, Romania, France, Colombia, Egypt, Brazil, Australia, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Nigeria and Ecuador. Suizanna Valodzka was sixth at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships and placed second at the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships.
